News: Matt Booty tells us about a butt-load of games.
Microsoft shared quite a few details about the upcoming Windows Phone 7 and its compatibility with Xbox Live. From what Microsoft has been saying at the Gamescom conference in Germany this week, it truly sounds like this will be Xbox Live in your pocket (and Microsoft's de facto handheld system). It seems like very few features have been left out in the translation from Xbox console to Xbox portable phone. Things like your Avatar, friends list, and most importantly, Achievements, are all going to part of mobile gaming with windows.
Here's a reassuring quote from Matt Booty, general manager of mobile gaming for Microsoft Game Studios about the future of Windows Phone 7:
"Just like we've done with Xbox 360, our charter is to push the envelope and deliver definitive games that maximise the platform. We will have an incredible line-up of [Microsoft Game Studios] titles, and that's just the beginning."
Maximizing the platform sounds awesome! If not a little ambiguous.
Here's a list of all the announced Windows Phone 7 games, with the especially interesting ones highlighted in bold. No release dates for these games yet. They have just been described as the "first wave" of releases.
