News: But that's all we know until 2011.

The image you see above is the first concept art from Ninja Gaiden III, the first game in the series to come from Team Ninja since Tomonobu Itagaki left the company. Announced today at the Tokyo Game Show by Team Ninja head Yosuke Hayashi, it is also the only piece of information the developer plans to release about the game until sometime in 2011. No platforms or even a tentative release date were revealed.

From this single image, you can see that many of the franchise's key elements are in place. A bloodied Ryu Hayabusa braces himself for an attack from an assailant reflected in his eye. This ensures that monstrous horrors similar to those found in the first two games will return. Which will no doubt lead to a flurry of demon dismemberment, a subject that Ryu is well-schooled in.

It'll be several months from now (at least), but we'll have more on Ninja Gaiden III soon.
