News: After years of promises, Mega Man Legends 3 is real.

Capcom has announced a pair of 3DS game in the wake of Nintendo's press conference detailing the handheld's launch in Japan.

The big announcement of the day is the news that Mega Man Legends 3 is in development for the 3DS. Long hinted at by Mega Man creator Keiji Inafune, the game is currently known by the working title Mega Man Legends 3 Project. Capcom wasn't ready to reveal any more just yet, but they did say that gamers will find out further details about the third Mega Man Legends game at next month's New York Comic-Con.

Also announced today was Resident Evil: The Mercenaries 3D, a 3DS take on the Mercenaries mode found in Resident Evil 4 and Resident Evil 5. Throwing players into a situation where they have to destroy as many zombies as possible in a fixed period of time, the 3DS version of Mercenaries will "add brand new modes and well known characters from the series to enrich and extend the Mercenaries experience." The game will also include a Wi-Fi mode for online zombie killing.

Capcom has another Resident Evil game in development for the 3DS, Resident Evil: Revelations, which was announced at this year's E3 expo. The publisher is also working on Super Street Fighter IV: 3D Edition for the handheld.

It's unknown when we'll get a chance to play any of Capcom's 3DS offerings as none of them have a release date yet. The 3DS system is scheduled to be released on February 26 in Japan and sometime in March in the rest of the world.
