EA Sports has told Kotaku that the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 versions of NBA Jam will get a retail release later this year.
The publisher's announcement was a reaction to Gamefly's addition of NBA Jam to their rental database. This lead Jen Riley of EA Vancouver to tell Kotaku, "The fact that retailers are showing the box is because we are shipping Jam in a box on [Xbox 360 and PS3]. We just haven't announced a firm date."
As of right now, EA believes that firm date will be sometime before the end of the year. But due to the fact that NBA Jam on the PS3 and Xbox 360 only existed as a stripped down "lite" version of the Wii original until a few weeks ago likely means the publisher doesn't want to make any promises it can't keep.
