News: Arr! Avast ye matey! You've got a date with the hangman!
For the second time in as many years, Disney Interactive has canceled a project in development at their internal studio, Propaganda Games. This time, Pirates of the Caribbean: Armada of the Damned was the victim of the axe (you might say Mickey made it walk the plank).
Previously scheduled to set sail alongside the next film in the franchise, Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides, Disney Interactive gave the grim news to Joystiq in a prepared statement:
Disney Interactive Studios confirms the cancellation of the Pirates of the Caribbean: Armada of the Damned video game which was scheduled to be released in 2011. As a result of this decision, Disney Interactive Studios completed a restructuring of Propaganda Games, its Vancouver, BC internal studio, affecting one of the studio's two development teams.
A similar round of layoffs occurred after last year's cancellation of Turok 2. The remaining members of Propaganda Games are hard at work on Tron: Evolution, which will be released this December.
