News: Keiji Inafune is hanging up his Arm Cannon after 23 years.
Keiji Inafune is a legend in the video game development world. He has worked at Capcom for the last 23 years and in that time has been responsible for creating (or co-creating) Dead Rising, Lost Planet and Onimusha. But he is best known for his tireless work on the Mega Man series.
Today, the father of the Blue Bomber has published a goodbye note on his official blog. After 23 years, he plans to leave Capcom at the end of this month (thanks to Kotaku for the translation work).
Of his departure, Inafune said, "I'm leaving Capcom with the intention of starting my life over."
And in the ultimate application of it's not you, it's me, Inafune said: "People that really know me, can see where I'm coming from. I'm not a regular dude. It's probably because I'm strange."
Before the announcement, Inafune was hard at work on Mega Man Legends 3 for the 3DS and Mega Man Universe for the PSN and XBLA.
He closed the blog post with a simple "Thank you."
Good luck in your future endeavors Inafune-san, the Mega Man series shaped the way I look at video games, it's we who should be thanking you.
