News: AIR... BALL!

Eric Brown, Electronic Arts' Chief Financial Officer, confirmed what we all knew was coming during the company's quarterly financial call: "[W]e just announced the cancellation of NBA Elite 11."

Chief Operating Officer John Schappert followed that up with the news that all future development on the NBA Elite series would take place at EA Tiburon, which adds the basketball simulation to their growing stable of sports franchises.

If it had been released, the PS3 and Xbox 360 game would have reached store shelves on October 5, packed with a PSN/XBLA version of NBA Jam. EA still plans to jam it home by releasing a retail version of NBA Jam on November 17.
