News: War's not here man.
The International Game Developer's Association held a conference in San Francisco last week and THQ's Vice President of Core Games, Danny Bilson, was on hand to talk about the company's future projects.
IGN was on hand at the event and Bilson talked quite a bit about Darksiders 2. According to the executive, the sequel won't feature War, the star of the first game, but a new character:
"It's a different character and takes place simultaneously to the [first game's] story, because there's only one apocalypse, and has new mechanics and features that differentiate it a lot and grow it from the first game."
"You have to build on the first one; you can't repeat it and I think that's very important in franchise building."
Bilson also revealed that if Darksiders 2 doesn't sell more than it's predecessor (which sold 1.3 million copies), the series may not see a third entry:
"If Darksiders 2 does 1.3 million there won't be a third one. If it doesn't grow, it just won't support itself financially."
As big fans of the first Darksiders game, let's hope the sequel sells a bundle.
We'll have more soon.
