After testing the downloadable game waters with Costume Quest, Double Fine is bringing another game to the PlayStation Network and Xbox Live Arcade next Spring. Once again published by THQ, the appropriately titled Stacking will star Charlie Blackmore, a Russian stacking doll that gains superpowers from the wooden matryoshkas.
IGN was given a sneak peek at the game including a rundown of how Charlie's stacking skills will work:
The fun of matryoshkas is, of course, stacking them, so the game utilizes their nesting functionality in an interesting way. The various dolls that populate the community have unique abilities and since Charlie is the littlest of them all, jumping inside another character (as creepy as that may sound) is an easy way to acquire new skill sets. Though you can pile on the dolls, only the outside one's power will be accessible, so you may find yourself stacking and unstacking to successfully complete a challenge.
IGN was also given a trailer that shows off the game's old-timey vibe and some of the superpowers, including the art of amore and the power of farting!
