News: You have made a powerful enemy today David O. Russell.
Someone hand Nathan Fillion a hanky, Mark "Marky Mark" Wahlberg has told the MTV Multiplayer blog that he has been cast as Nathan Drake in the upcoming Uncharted movie.
The film adaptation of Uncharted is being written and directed by David O. Russell, who previously worked with Wahlberg on the amazing Three Kings and this year's The Fighter. Russell has become known for his perfectionist ways, but according to Wahlberg, shooting should begin this Summer:
"David is one of the best writer/directors I've ever worked with," said Wahlberg. "The idea that he has is just insane. So hopefully we'll be making that movie this summer."
One of those insane ideas is casting Joe Pesci or Robert De Niro as an older member of the Drake family.
Discussions with De Niro and Pesci are ongoing, but it's interesting to note that no other member of Nathan's family has appeared in an Uncharted game to date. Either Russell is using the game as a loose template for his movie or Naughty Dog has some big plans for the officially unannounced (but surely in development) Uncharted 3.
We'll have more soon.
