News: On the PS3 only, of course.
The "Kratos in Mortal Kombat rumors have been flying furiously since the game was announced, and it looks like Official PlayStation Magazine (as reported by Giant Bomb and others) has just confirmed the Ghost of Sparta will tangle with Scorpion next Spring.
Kratos' appearance in Mortal Kombat will be limited to versus play only. He won't play a part in the game's storyline, which is a reimagining of the first three Mortal Kombat titles. Even with this limitation, the magazine revealed that NetherRealm is giving Kratos his own special moves, his own Fatality and a God of War-inspired stage.
Seems like a lot of work just for a multiplayer character.
With this announcement comes the inevitable discussion of what character will guest star in the Xbox 360 version of Mortal Kombat.
The obvious choice would be Microsoft's flagship character, the Master Chief. WB Games could even market it as a player's choice between a Spartan and a SPARTAN.
Of course, it's also possible the Xbox 360 version of the game won't get a special guest character at all.
We'll have more soon.
