News: It's not the years honey, it's the mileage.
Since it's release in late November, Sony has parked 5.5 million copies of Gran Turismo 5 in the homes of gamers around the world. While not Call of Duty numbers, this impressive sales success has pushed the sales of the series as a whole past 60 million.
The team at Polyphony Digital can proudly shout "I can't drive 55" as the latest entry in the series proves there's plenty of life left in the Gran Turismo series after slow sales of
Gran Turismo on the PSP, which sold a (relatively) paltry 2.2 million.
While GT5's sales are impressive, the leader of the pack is still
Gran Turismo 3: A-Spec. Benefiting from its inclusion in a PS2 system bundle, the game has sold nealy 15 million copies worldwide.
Congratulations to the team at Polyphony Digital, which Sony has promised "will continue hereon to vigorously promote development of the Gran Turismo series, which can be expected to evolve even further through the PS3 platform and broadband network environment."
