News: Probably with lots of Sonic...

Alan Pritchard, Sega's Executive Vice President of Sales and Marketing, recently chatted with Game Informer about the company's future and the ever-present rumors of a Dreamcast 2.

Concerning a Dreamcast 2, Pritchard played the "I know nothing!" card, but admitted that a Dreamcast 2 is not in Sega's plans for the future:

"Unless there's something I don't know Ц no one has told me about getting back into the console business."

Instead, the company plans to revisit the glory days of the original Dreamcast with a new compilation tentatively known as the Dreamcast Collection. Pritchard didn't reveal what games would appear on it (although Sega has made Sonic Adventure and Crazy Taxi available on the PSN/XBLA), but he did hint at a PS3 and Xbox 360 release:

"The Dreamcast fans are very devoted. You see on eBay people are still buying the games and system. We actually have a Dreamcast collection coming out soon. We are looking to bring some of the old Dreamcast games to market digitally and packaged. The titles are still to be announced. The Ultimate Genesis Collection did huge numbers on PS3 and 360, so it's an important part of our business. We've already been releasing some Dreamcast games digitally; Crazy Taxi [for one]."

Hey Sega, how about you resurrect Typing of the Dead? I'd buy ten copies of a Dreamcast Collection with Typing of the Dead on it.
