News: Come on down to Crazy Guillermo's Development Lot today!
With confirmation that Guillermo Del Toro's Insane will be a trilogy, THQ's Danny Bilson revealed a little more about the release schedule of the project.
He told Stuff We Like: "This is an epic project. It's going to take the next eight to 10 years to build all three chapters of this game."
For those scoring at home, that means that the final entry in the Insane trilogy won't be released until 2021 at the earliest. That is just some ridiculous long-range planning.
Closer to now (relatively speaking), Bilson said that the team at Volition has been hard at work on Insane for six months now. He also estimated that the team still has another two and a half years to go, meaning that Insane won't be in stores before the Fall of 2013.
For his part, Del Toro has big plans for the long development cycle and has jumped into game development with both feet:
"I think that what people need to understand, when you come from a medium like movies, is that the narrative medium of videogames is entirely different. The rules are different, the way you tell the story is different. You don't come into this world and try to apply the same rules. I'm here to learn and try some crazy shit," Del Toro said.
Insane will be coming to the PC, PS3 and Xbox 360 in 2013.
