News: See all what the box art looks like for all three versions of THQ's Mars-based third-person shooter.

The release date for Red Faction: Armageddon was delayed from March to May 17, which, sadly, means we will have to get through E3 2011 in order to go hands on with the final version of this promising game. But, we can take a bit of solace now that we can see what the box art of all three versions will look like on store shelves in exactly three months time. Below is the artwork for the game on Xbox 360, PC and PS3.

The box art takes a very minimalist tone, much like THQ's new corporate logo. But, while Apple-esque logo of the rebranded company isn't shocking in today's business world, the whiteness of the Armageddon boxart is surprising due to the game's darker nature. As a Mars-based shooter that involves aliens and an expansive world underground, you'd expect a box cover filled with deep reds and solid blacks. However, it's quite the contrary, we found out today.

The lack of a complicated background (or any background for that matter) causes the character art of Darius Mason to stick out, which I'm sure THQ hopes will catch the eye of gamers perusing store shelves. Mason appears as if he is breaking apart into a million tiny pieces, not unlike the game world which has players shatter everything in the environment thanks to developer Volition, Inc.'s impressive GeoMod 2.0 engine.

While we still don't know anything about the multiplayer of this May 17-bound video game, we did test the single-player not too long ago and can say that we're looking forward to touching down on Mars again to battle aliens as yet another member of the Mason family.
