News: Mega Man Universe, Capcom's upcoming 2.5D game featuring the blue bomber is all of a sudden not coming to XBLA and PSN.
Mega Man Universe began so beautifully with a stop motion animated teaser trailer produced by LA-based iam8bit. However, between that trailer's debut and now, development on the game did not go as planned and Capcom just announced that it has been canceled.
The text from Capcom of Japan's message cites "various reasons" for axing this Xbox Live Arcade and PlayStation Network game, but goes no further into laying out the reasons. One can only assume that the departure of Mega Man creator Keiji Inafune from Capcom was one of the major reason for the cancellation.
Mega Man Universe was shaping up to be an ambitious downloadable game for the blue bomber. 2.5D graphics and a level editor accompanied classic Mega Man gameplay along with the name "Mega Man" instead of "Rock Man" in Japan, a first for this territory.
We'll have more on this game's sudden cancellation and hopefully very soon we'll see where Mega Man goes from here.
