News: Buffy's SMG, original Freddy Krueger Robert Englund, Walking Dead's Michael Rooker, Machete's Danny Trejo, director George A. Remero round out cast.
When Treyarch announced the first details about four Escalation multiplayer maps for Call of Duty: Black Ops on the Xbox 360, PS3 and PC, studio head Mark Lamia said "I don't want to spoil any surprises for Zombies fans, but Call of the Dead takes it to a whole new level." He wasn't kidding. This fifth map features playable zombie slayer celebrities: Buffy the Vampire Slayer's Sarah Michelle Gellar, Nightmare of Elm Street's original Freddy Krueger Robert Englund, Walking Dead's Michael Rooker and Machete's Danny Trejo.
Best of all, legendary Night of the Living Dead director George A. Romero stars in this second Black Ops map pack. In fact, he was the inspiration for the level and, no doubt, the name. The premise, as depicted in the appropriately gory gameplay video below, casts the celebrities as four lone survivors who must battle a forsaken shipped-wrecked crew to no end.
The $15 Escalation map pack is novel, but the use of celebrity zombie slayers is not. The Black Ops disc actually features four famous characters in the "Five" map: President John F. Kennedy, President Richard Nixon, Secretary of Defense Robert McNamara and former Cuban President Fidel Castro. Also not different is the fact that this DLC will be coming to Xbox 360 first, on May 3. The PS3 and PC release dates have yet to be determined. Considering the status of PS3 online accounts, we don't even know if it'd be possible on PS3 by May 3.
We do know one thing, though: Gaming Target will have have more coverage as the Call of Duty Black Ops Escalation release date nears.
