E3 2011 Video News: The Halo 4 trailer didn't tell us much besides the fact that Master Chief and Cortana are confirmed. We analyze the full E3 2011 movie for more.
Halo 4 E3 2011 trailer video is below
The first big surprise announcement of E3 2011 was made at the end of the Microsoft Press Conference:
Halo 4, the direct sequel to Bungie's epic Halo 3, is being developed by the purpose built Halo developer, 343 Industries.
The Halo 4 trailer that was shown was entirely cinematic and revealed very little about what to expect from the gameplay. What is clear is that Master Chief and Cortana are back. The jetpack, made popular in Halo: Reach, appears to be available to players, and Master Chief is seen customizing his Pistol (which looks like the legendary Halo: Combat Evolved version of the weapon), which means that we should expect something along those lines too. But what else should we expect from Halo 4?
Halo 4 will have online multiplayer co-op, the industry standard competitive multiplayer, a new version of Firefight, Theater and Forge. If it didn't it wouldn't be modern Halo. It's sure to have the latest graphics enhancements and an engrossing story. But what new features will it have?
Halo 4 will have new enemies. This is basically a guarantee. Master Chief and Cortana end up on the other side of the galaxy at the end of Halo 3 and with the Covenant pacified and the Flood threat pretty much eradicated, it makes sense that the game's heroes will have to fight for a way back to their home. And if they are on the other side of the universe, it'd be a pretty dull action game without something to fight.
Halo 4 will be the first in a new trilogy of Halo games. So what we can say for sure is that whatever happens in this game is really just setting the scene for a confirmed
Halo 5 and
Halo 6. Halo 4's story is destined to be epic and likely to contain more original characters and cliffhanger storylines.
Halo 4 should have lots of new weapons, especially if Master Chief is in a new part of the galaxy. 343 Industries were put together years ago to take Halo into the future, and in all that time waiting to be handed the reigns from Bungie, the ideas must have been brewing and maturing. Halo 4 will have to have new vehicles. It will have to take everything we know and love about Halo and expand upon it.
343 Industries will be bringing us the
Halo Remake, Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary, on November 15th 2011, so we will see what they are capable of a year before Halo 4's planned Holiday 2012 release. Keep checking
Gaming Target for more news updates about the Halo 4 features and 2012 release date in the future.
