E3 2011 News: There's no Deception here. Uncharted 3 is shaping up to be one of the best games of 2011. Its GotY was evident at E3 2011 when demoed on the PS3.
We're inching closer to the Uncharted 3 release date of November 1 every day, so Sony made sure this Naughty Dog-developed game was its centerpiece during the Sony E3 2011 Press Conference in Los Angeles. A live demo was shown, featuring a stealthy Nathan Drake taking out guards on a luxury liner before finding himself ambushed in a hangar. There, he had to use his environment and ingenious tactics to survive a massive shootout. As the ship began to sink, the gaming audience was treated to stunning water effects and other special effects, as Drake struggled on to the end of the demo.
A humble Jack Tretton, CEO of SCEA, stood in front of a 6,000-person audience and apologized for the recent PlayStation Network outage, which caused PSN to be down for 24 days. Striking the right tone, he was able to elicit a laugh from the audience at the Los Angeles Memorial Sports Arena. Then, he made room on the stage for the developers of Naughty Dog to show off their blockbuster sequel, Uncharted 3: Drake's Deception. More than the apology, this the promise that this demo provided made up for the PS Network outage.
In addition to the "Welcome Back" package, gamers are going to get the entire multiplayer contingent of Uncharted 3 for free on PSN some time before the release of the full game. This surprise news out of E3 2011 wasn't accompanied by a specific date, so all we know is that it'll be prior to November 1. A new trailer showed off many of the events to expect from the campaign, including Drake's crazy dash to climb aboard a jumbo jet already in take-off procedures. With the new Uncharted 3 trailer, live stage demo and promise of free multiplayer, Naughty Dog has once again fashioned one of the best games featuring PS3 graphics technology and the gameplay promises to emulate all of the features that made Uncharted 2 one of the best games of 2009.
