Earthbound News: Did Earthbound have heavy inspiration for its oddball soundtrack? Kotaku seems to think so, and has a mash up to prove it.

Whether or not you've ever played Earthbound, you'll get a kick out of the musical mash-up Kotaku has put together. It seems the creators of the SNES classic knew where to look for an inspired soundtrack to this distinctly oddball game. Take a listen at Kotaku.

I think that funky bit of fight music has been universally recognized as sounding like УTequila,Ф but the parts from The Who and the УLiberty Bell MarchФ are unmistakable once pointed out. And that drunken take on УThe Star Spangled BannerФ is downright subversive!

The article also makes the distinction between Уsound-alikesФ and Уsamples,Ф the former being someone writing and playing a knock off, and the latter recording a snippet of the song and slipping it into a mix. If author Chris Person spotted all these himself if he ought be wiretapping for the CIA, not editing videos over at Kotaku.
