Diablo 3 pre-order Special: Shut up and take our money Blizzard!

Now that Blizzard had said the Diablo 3 release date is May 15, get ready for the lord of evil and his minions with our pre-order guide. We'll keep it up to date with the latest offers. If you find one that isn't here, post it in the comments and share the knowledge.

Diablo III trailer

Standard vs. Collector's edition

Diablo III Collector's Edition: not a bunch of obnoxious day one DLC

Diablo III comes in two flavors, Standard for $59.99 and Collector's Edition for $99.99. Relax completists, its mostly Уmaking ofФ features, a rather Gothic USB stick and some aesthetics only items. There's an art booklet, behind-the-scenes DVDs, and in-game content for D3, Starcraft 2 and World of Warcraft. Get the full breakdown of the collector's edition here. Blizzard hasn't been as explicit about the Standard Edition. One can assume there will be some sort of map or piece of art included with a copy of the game, but surely nothing as nice as in the CE. We'll update when there's more information.

All copies of Diablo III are Mac/PC compatible, because that is how Blizzard rolls.

From Blizzard

If you're a World of Warcraft fan, buying direct from Blizzard might be the best deal out there. Sign up for a year of of WoW and you'll get a copy of Diablo III for free. Maybe it's Blizzard's way off loosening the player's purse strings in the Auction House, but it's a damn fine deal nonetheless. Otherwise you can pay $59.99 to download direct Blizzard's Battle.net service.

Diablo III on consoles

Don't hold your breath, but Blizzard has flirted with the idea of porting Diablo III to Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. They haven't given any concrete details as it seems they are still deciding if it's possible. Blizzard doesn't do anything half-assed, however, and has a history of cancelling console projects that don't seem to be working out (we're looking at you, >StarCraft: Ghost).
