One of the big game reveals to come out of E3 took place at EA’s briefing when they closed the show by unveiling Mirror’s Edge 2. This is a title that many fans (including myself) have been requesting for years and it is great to finally have official confirmation that, yes, it is in development and is on the way.
Mirror’s Edge was first introduced in 2008 with its highly stylized world and a fresh take on first person action adventure. The new Mirror’s Edge reboots the franchise for the next generation with advanced visuals and a whole new story for Faith. This new Mirror’s Edge title will join an ever growing list of games that will feature the Frostbite engine.
“We introduced Mirror’s Edge and Faith to gamers five years ago, and we’ve waited for the right moment to reunite them,” said Sara Jansson, Senior Producer, DICE. “Thanks to the Frostbite engine and a new generation of platforms, we are now able to deliver a richer world that players will be able to explore with a new level of freedom in both movement and action.”
Current rumors suggest that this new Mirror’s Edge title will be a bit more open world. Of course that is only a rumor at this point but it could be interesting if done right. What did you think of EA’s Mirror’s Edge 2 reveal? Mirror’s Edge 2 will be available on Xbox One, PS4 and PC and is tenatively scheduled for sometime in 2014. Which format will you get?
