Driveclub News: Evolution Studios has confirmed that you can earn a platinum trophy in the Driveclub PS Plus Edition despite it not being the full game.

Driveclub

Sony revealed earlier this year that they had a new racing IP with Driveclub and that a special “PS Plus Edition” will be free to play for PS Plus members on the PS4. This isn’t the full version of the game but it isn’t quite a demo either. What is really interesting here is that even though the PS Plus Edition of Driveclub is not the full game you will be able to earn a platinum trophy. This was confirmed by “Rushy” from Evolution Studios who also confirmed that if you do choose to upgrade and purchase the full version you won’t be required to have PS Plus. Unfortunately when asked about details on pricing he declined to answer and simply said that prices won’t be announced “for a few more weeks yet.”

Another question was posted to Rushy regarding split-screen multiplayer in Driveclub and, sadly, that will not be a feature. While I would venture to guess there probably wouldn’t be a tremendous amount of people who would utilize the split screen feature if it was included I do know some people wish more games would allow you to go split screen.

Driveclub pre-order bonuses were also confirmed. When you pre-order from participating retailers you’ll have your choice of one of three exclusive packs depending on which store you pre-order from. Each pack will include an exclusive livery design, instant access to a powerful supercar and a boost of fame to increase your driver level in the game and give you and your club a head start over the competition. It was also revealed that if you purchase Driveclub at retail or digitally over PSN you will get a free three month trial of PlayStation Plus. It wasn’t mentioned whether this was just valid for new members or whether existing members could simply stack these three months on top of their current membership.

The Driveclub PS Plus Edition will be in the PS Plus Instant Game Collection and won’t require a pre-order. Evolution has stated that it will give you a selection of cars from all five classes, beautiful locations and exciting race tracks that you can play in all game modes. If you want the entire experience though you will need to pay for it.

Take a look at the recently released Driveclub trailer and tell us what you think. Will you download the PS Plus Edition or you will simply buy the game and gain access to everything? Are you planning on getting Driveclub as part of your launch lineup of games?
