News: Major Nelson has revealed that the Titanfall beta will be open to all Xbox One owners later today.

Titanfall

Earlier this week it was announced that the Titanfall beta would begin on February 14 and you had to sign up to get a code. Just because you signed up didn’t mean you were guaranteed a code though so for the past two days people have been anxiously refreshing their email accounts hoping to get a code and some early play time with what could turn out to be 2014’s biggest title. There were even auctions on eBay where people were buying access to the beta for $30 or more. I don’t know why they wouldn’t just put that money toward the game itself but Major Nelson has announced that is all about to change.

According to a recent post on Major Nelson’s blog, the Titanfall beta on Xbox One is opening up to everyone. Yep, no longer will you need to continually check your email to see if you were in the most recent wave of codes being sent out. To download the beta, sign in to your Xbox One and head to the “New Game Demos” section of the Game Store and it will appear there. Alternately you can also say “Xbox, Bing” then “Show me game demos.”

Microsoft did not reveal an exact time the demo will appear in the store. It is going to be released in waves so that, hopefully, the servers don’t crash under the sudden rush of traffic. If your friend is able to download it and it isn’t appearing for you, just remain patient and it will eventually get to your console. If you have already downloaded the beta because you received the code then nothing has changed. Additionally, due to the server problems the beta was having yesterday, Respawn has announced that they are extending the beta by one day until February 19.

Apparently Microsoft really wants to put a lot of pressure on their servers to really give them a good test run before this game hits store shelves. EA definitely wants to avoid another Battlefield 4 scenario here make sure Titanfall works on March 11. What do you think about this revelation? Will you be testing out the Titanfall beta now that it is open to everyone?
