News: Another person has left a big gaming studio with Sony losing the game director for Driveclub.

Driveclub

It seems like we can’t go a week lately without reporting on a big departure from one of the big gaming companies and this week is no different. According to Video Gamer, Driveclub’s game director Col Rodgers has left Evolution Studios.

It appears that Rodgers left Evolution in February and might be one of the contributing factors for the most recent delay of Driveclub. That isn’t confirmed or anything but it seems to be coincidental timing. Rodgers told Video Gamer that his departure from Evolution Studios is not related to the recent round of layoffs at a few different Sony studios.

Sony has provided IGN with the following statement: "SCEA can confirm Col Rodgers, who served as Game Director on Driveclub, departed Evolution Studio in February 2014 to pursue other opportunities."

Now that Col Rodgers is out of the picture it isn’t immediately clear on who will take over the reigns for Driveclub. As for Rodgers, he has formed an indie studio call Big Red Switch Games. What do you think about this situation? Are you still looking forward to Driveclub?
