News: Nintendo has just revealed a new adapter for the Wii U that will allow you to play Smash Bros Wii U with Gamecube controllers.

Super Smash Bros

Nintendo has just revealed some potentially exciting news for fans of Super Smash Bros. Nintendo of America has just posted on their Twitter account that the Wii U version of Smash Bros will be playable with Gamecube controllers thanks to an adapter that Nintendo will be releasing.

Unfortunately no other details were released about this adapter. Nintendo didn’t give us a release date or a potential price for this adapter. Maybe it will be included with every copy of Smash Bros you buy, who knows? Hopefully Nintendo will give us the necessary details regarding this adapter at E3 in a week and a half. Until then we’ll just have to play the guessing game on how we will be able to get our hands on this.

Assuming for a moment that you will have to buy this adapter, will you pick this up? Are you excited to be able to play Smash Bros. on Wii U with a Gamecube controller? Or will you stick with the Wii U Pro controller? Could this lead to other Gamecube related announcements on the Wii U? Personally speaking I hope to see a Gamecube Virtual Console announced but that might just be wishful thinking on my part.

Take a look at the picture below and tell us what you think. Are you interested in this adapter?
