The holiday season is now over and Sony has just issued a press release talking about the PS4’s performance over the last few months. The PS4, according to Sony, is currently sitting at 18.5 million units sold worldwide. In addition, 10.9 million users have taken advantage of the features and benefits of PS Plus, as of January 2, 2015.

"We are absolutely delighted that so many customers around the globe have continued to select PS4 as their console of choice throughout this holiday season," said Andrew House, President and Group CEO of Sony Computer Entertainment Inc. "We will continue to reinforce and deliver additional value on PS4 as the best place to play, by bringing even more exciting content and by enriching our wide array of service offerings."

In addition to those impressive hardware sales, Sony also revealed that software is selling tremendously as well. PS4 software sales have been impressive with 81.8 million copies sold in retail stores globally and through digital downloads on the PlayStation Store, including 17.8 million sold during the holiday season.

Did you pick up a PlayStation 4 over the holidays? Do you know someone who did? What do you think about PS4’s performance in 2014 and how it will perform in 2015?
