News: Konami appears to be facing an uncertain future with the cancellation of a game many were looking forward to and no longer being on the NYSE.
Silent Hills has been officially cancelled according to Konami. If you have been looking forward to playing this game you unfortunately will not get the chance to do so as Konami is walking away from it altogether. Additionally, PT is being removed from the PlayStation Network on Wednesday, April 29, so if you don’t download it by that date then you won’t be able to get that anymore either.
The cancellation of Silent Hills was rumored throughout the weekend with director Guillermo del Toro saying it “is not gonna happen” on Twitter and then Konami made it official earlier today. Even stranger is that Konami chose to delist itself from the New York Stock Exchange, effective last Friday. Apparently Konami remains listed in London and Tokyo and, at the moment, shares can still be purchased in the U.S. Konami will face deregistration with the SEC on July 12, 2015 and won’t be required to report on financials any longer beginning on July 23, 2015. With Kojima leaving the company it appears Konami might be in rougher shape than any of us thought. They still have Metal Gear Solid V coming out in September but after that, who knows? What do you think is going on over at Konami right now? Tell us what you think below.
