Call of Duty: Black Ops III is coming out later this year. Earlier today Activision revealed that ESPN The Magazine is releasing a special double-issue this month dedicated to the crossover between athletes and video games. Seattle Seahawks star Marshawn Lynch (can Call of Duty fan) will be gracing the cover of this double issue.
Additionally, as is revealed in the cover story, Marshawn Lynch will be an in-game character in Call of Duty: Black Ops III. Lynch recently visited Activision’s motion capture studio for facial scanning and performance capture, in addition to getting plenty of early hands-on with Black Ops III.
Call of Duty: Black Ops III is set in a dark, gritty future where a new breed of Black Ops soldiers emerges and the lines are blurred between our own humanity and the cutting-edge military robotics that define the future of combat. Treyarch has also upped their game (no pun intended) by delivering a campaign that is designed for four-player co-op and replayability. The cinematic gameplay that Call of Duty is known for will be on full display as well as new open area arena style gameplay elements designed to allow players to approach the game with a different strategy each time they play.
Check out the cover of ESPN The Magazine and tell us what you think. What do you think of Marshawn Lynch being in the game? What do you think of Black Ops III itself?
