The new Xbox One Experience is getting ready to launch next week. Leading up to the launch Microsoft has begun to show off one of the update features: Xbox One avatars and the new and improved Guide. The Avatars on Xbox One will be similar to what we came to know on the Xbox 360. They will be a higher fidelity though, similar to what Windows 10 gamers have come to know.
If you are familiar with the Avatar experience on Xbox 360 then you are already familiar with how it will work on Xbox One. You can create your own avatar and customize him or her how you see fit. You can dress them up with glasses, gloves, shoes, different props and more. If you allow it to do so your avatar will show up in multiple locations throughout the New Xbox One Experience. It could show up in your Activity feed, the “Compare Achievements” section in Game Hubs, your profile and more.
Along with the avatars is the new OneGuide. The new and improved OneGuide makes it easy to get to the content you own as well as give you access to apps you use that will give you recommended content that you might enjoy and more. One really cool feature is the App Channel which allows you to see what is available at glance in your favorite apps. If you have Netflix on Xbox One you’ll have a list of shows that are available such as Friends or Empire. On Hulu you will see hits like Seinfeld and more. You can see these listings without having to open the apps as well which makes things really quick.
For those who use your Xbox One to watch live tv you will also be able to enjoy a picture-in-picture of what you are watching while you check television listings or are just browsing for something else to watch. TV listings should now come up instantly and in full screen letting you see what’s on more channels at once.
