News: Microsoft has revealed the time when the New Xbox One Experience will be arriving, along with when Backwards Compatibility will be available.

”Xbox

The New Xbox One Experience is going to start rolling out to people in a few hours. Microsoft is doing a global rollout for this and they will be doing it in waves. Not everyone will receive the update at once and the time you will get it depends on your time zone. It will start being sent out at 12:01 am pacific (3:01 am eastern).

If you want the smoothest experience possible then you need to have your system on “Instant On” mode and allow your Xbox to download things in the background. You also need to make sure that the option for turning your hard drive off when the system off is not checked. If you have set it up correctly then your Xbox One will grab the update in the background whenever it hits your area and begin to download and install it.

If you have your Xbox One in energy saving mode then your console will not automatically download and install the new OS. At that point you will need to manually initiate the update by going to “Settings” and then “System” to start it. If you try to do that and it tells you that no update is available then the update isn’t available in your area yet and you will need to come back later.

If for some reason that you don’t update to the New Xbox One Experience by November 23 then you will receive a prompt for a mandatory update.

Regardless of when you are able to download and install the update the backwards compatibility feature will launch at 12:00pm pacific (3:00pm eastern). At that time all of the Xbox 360 games that you own digitally that are on the Xbox One backwards compatibility list will show up in the “Ready to install” section of your games library. To get to that section simply go to your “My Games & Apps” and then go to games and then scroll all the way to the right. You should then see all of your Xbox 360 games that are ready to be downloaded. If you own a physical copy of a game that is backwards compatible then you need to put the disc in your Xbox One. If the game is on the backwards compatibility list your system will recognize the Xbox 360 disc and ping the Live servers so that you can download the digital version of the game. Please keep in mind that if you install an Xbox 360 game using a disc you will always need that disc in the console to play that game the same way as if you bought the physical version of Halo 5 on disc and you need that disc in your console to play the game. If you don’t want to do that you could always buy the digital version of the game and not use the disc at all.

With the New Xbox One Experience being only a few hours away, what are you excited about most? The improved dashboard? The new look? The fact that you can now play Xbox 360 games on your Xbox One? Tell us what you think below.
