News: Some more Xbox 360 games are now available to play on your Xbox One with The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings leading the charge.
Microsoft has revealed that there are some new Xbox 360 games that can now be played on your Xbox One. Since the backwards compatibility feature has launched in November there has been more than 21 million hours logged of Xbox One owners playing Xbox 360 games. Microsoft also revealed that they are changing the way that they will be updating the backwards compatibility list. It used to be that we would get an update with new titles every month. Now Microsoft is changing it to be whenever a title is ready. So say, for example, Call of Duty: Black Ops II becomes ready to be added on February 2. Instead of having to wait until later in the month for the monthly update we would be able to get it then. To be clear no such announcement has been made in regards to Black Ops II, that was merely an example I chose to use. This is good news and puts the onus more on developers/publishers to allow their games to be played via Xbox One’s backwards compatibility feature.
The new games that are now available on Xbox One via the backwards compatibility feature are as follows:
Aegis Wing
Age of Booty
Counter-Strike: Go
Jeremy McGrath’s Offroad
Sam & Max Save the World
Skullgirls
Small Arms
Soulcalibur
Space Giraffe
The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings
To help celebrate this occasion The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings is also available as a free download on Xbox Live right now. Be sure to go get it while it is still free and then playing it on your Xbox One. The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings is available for free in the U.S., Canada, United Kingdom, France and Germany. It will remain free through February 5 (12 a.m. UTC).
