Three of the greatest games ever created are now available on the Nintendo eShop for the New Nintendo 3DS. These titles include The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past, Super Metroid and Earthbound. The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past is available for $7.99, Super Metroid is available for $7.99 as well and Earthbound can be downloaded for $9.99.
In The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past, Link receives a telepathic message from Zelda, imploring him to help. He must find the Master Sword, then travel to the Dark World to defeat Ganon and restore peace to the land of Hyrule. Along the way there are many dungeons to pass, items to find and princesses to save. You travel in the Light and the Dark World on your quest to thwart Ganon’s evil plans and to once again save Hyrule.
Super Metroid takes place on the fictional planet of Zebes. You control Samus Aran as you search the planet for a Metroid that was stolen by Ridley, the leader of the Space Pirates. You can run, jump, crouch, and fire a weapon in eight directions as well as perform other actions, such as wall jumping. As you progress through the game you will acquire power ups that will enhance your suit as well as your abilities.
Earthbound features many traditional RPG elements. You control a party of characters who travel through the game’s two dimensional world composed of villages, cities, caves and dungeons. As you fight enemies you gain more experience which will eventually raise the level of your character. The world is seamless unlike most RPGs from that era who tended to favor an overworld map and there are no random encounters.
Check out a trailer for each game below and tell us what you think. The trailers below are for the Wii U eShop versions since Nintendo didn’t release a new trailer for the 3DS releases but they are obviously the exact same game on the 3DS. Please keep in mind that these games will only work on the New Nintendo 3DS. Will you buying these classic games?
