News: If you want to purchase a PlayStation Plus membership be sure to do it today before the price increase takes place.

If you have been waiting to renew or extend your PlayStation Plus membership you might want to do so today. Beginning tomorrow on September 22nd PlayStation Plus is getting a price increase going from $49.99 a year to $59.99 a year, bringing it on par with the price for Xbox Live. The monthly plan looks like it will remain at $10 while the three month plan will go up to $25. If you live in Canada it gets even worse as PlayStation Plus will now be $70 CAD for a year. It will also be $12 CAD for one month or $30 CAD for three months.
If you buy a PlayStation Plus subscription today though you should still be able to get them at their lower price. You can stack years too so if you have the money to do so you might want to try and buy a couple of years worth of PlayStation Plus so you don’t have to think of this price increase for a good while.
Sony has not given a specific reason for the price increase. One can hope that some of this new money that Sony will be getting will go towards making the PlayStation Network a faster, more reliable service. Only time will tell to see if that happens or not though.
