News: EA has released a new trailer to whet your appetite for Mass Effect Andromeda and Microsoft has revealed Mass Effect 2 and 3 are now on Xbox One.

Mass Effect fans now that November 7 is “N7 Day” and with that comes some good news, especially for Xbox One gamers. Earlier today EA released the official cinematic reveal trailer Mass Effect Andromeda which is set to be released next Spring. Mass Effect Andromeda is using the Frostbite engine which means this is definitely going to be the best looking game of the franchise.

In Mass Effect Andromeda you will have to become the new Pathfinder. The future of our species rests on your shoulders. You will be able to customize your self as well as your squad with a “deep and flexible progression system.” You will be sent on missions beyond the borders of the known universe. There will be a lot of mysteries that need to be solved and different alien worlds to explore. Judging by what we have seen so far as well as the new cinematic trailer that was released today, Mass Effect Andromeda looks like it could be another fun entry into the Mass Effect franchise.

To coincide with N7 Day, Microsoft has also revealed that Mass Effect 2 and Mass Effect 3 are now backwards compatible on Xbox One. EA has also revealed that Mass Effect 1, Mass Effect 2 and Mass Effect 3 are now in the EA Access vault as well. What that means is that not only can you play the Mass Effect trilogy on Xbox One but if you are an EA Access member you can do it for free. It should be noted that as of the time this article was posted that the games are not showing up in the vault yet but they should show up by the end of the day and you can find the games by going into the Xbox Store and bypassing the EA Access app altogether.

This means that the entire Mass Effect franchise can be played on the Xbox One. If you already own the digital versions of these games then they should be in your “Ready to Install” section on your Xbox One. If you own the disc version of these games then you will need to put the disc into your Xbox One and initiate the installation. Once you do that it will ping the Xbox Live servers where it will tell you that it needs to download an update. That update is in fact the game itself. Essentially you are downloading the digital version of the game but you will need to have your disc in the Xbox One whenever you want to play since that is how you installed the game. Of course if you purchase the digital license at any time then you will no longer need the disc. Additionally, it should be pointed out that even though both Mass Effect 2 and Mass Effect 3 had multiple discs on Xbox 360 you only need disc one to install and play the game. The reason for that is because of what I mentioned up above, putting in the disc and starting the installation pings the Xbox Live servers and it downloads the whole game.

Check out the trailer for Mass Effect: Andromeda below and tell us what you think. Mass Effect Andromeda will be released on Xbox One, PS4 and PC early next year. Are you excited for Mass Effect Andromeda? Will you install and play the trilogy on your Xbox One?
