Square Enix has revealed that a third patch has just been released for Chrono Trigger on Steam. This new patch introduces several new updates and improvements, including the following:
Updates to Game UI: In addition to the UI changes introduced in the previous patch, additional changes have been made to further improve gameplay experience with both gamepad and keyboard controls. These changes can be seen on the world map, in towns and dungeons, within shop menus, during time warps, and also during unique scenarios including the display of narrative choices and mini-games. Players can change the UI based on their preference between gamepad/keyboard or mouse in the game’s settings or when starting a new game.
Quality-of-Life Improvements to Battles: Improvements have been made to the battle screen, including added functionality to turn pages within menus with a single button press, and changes to the duration of description windows, among other updates.
Performance and Balance Updates: Additional changes have been made to further improve gameplay and ensure the game runs smoothly.
Additional changes to better balance the difficulty of some mini-games and fix several bugs.
A fourth patch will be released for Chrono Trigger on Steam in late June, which will continue to make improvements to the game and menu UIs, and title screen. Key assignment functionality for gamepad, keyboard and mouse will also be supported in the forthcoming patch.
Originally released in 1995, Chrono Trigger was developed by the ‘Dream Team’ of Dragon Quest creator Yuji Horii, Dragon Ball creator Akira Toriyama and the creators of the Final Fantasy series. Many challenges await players in this quest to save the planet’s future, as long-lost secrets are revealed through time travel to different eras including the present, middle ages, the future, prehistory and ancient times.
Have you purchased Chrono Trigger on Steam yet? If not, will all of these patches get you to buy it?
