News: There will be 40 games available on the Sega Genesis mini but so far we only know 20 of the titles.
The Sega Genesis Mini was revealed a while back with Sega hoping to capture some of that magic that Nintendo has with their mini consoles. There will be a total of 40 games on this console and it will arrive later this year for $79.99. We don’t know all 40 games yet but Sega revealed the next ten today bringing the total of known titles up to 20. The 10 games that were revealed today include:
Earthworm Jim
Sonic the Hedgehog 2
Castle of Illusion: Starring Mickey Mouse
World of Illusion: Starring Mickey Mouse and Donald Duck
Contra: Hard Corps
Streets of Rage 2
Thunder Force III
Super Fantasy Zone
Shinobi III: Return of the Ninja Master
Landstalker
This Sega Genesis mini console is going to be based on the original Model 1 Genesis which launched in October 1988 in Japan, August 1989 in North America, and November 1990 in the rest of the world. As far as the physical size of this mini console, it is 55% the size of the original Model 1, so a little over half as big. When you pick up Sega Genesis mini console later this year you will find the following in the box:
Sega Genesis Mini Console with 40 games
Two replica three-button USB Genesis controllers
One USB to Micro-B power cable
One power adapter (North America only)
One HDMI cable
It should be noted that Sega has confirmed that you will not be able to use the original Sega Genesis controllers with this mini console. It appears that you will have to use the controllers that come with the system. In addition to the 10 titles that are mentioned above, there are also 10 more titles that were previously revealed. These include the following:
