The 2019 Capcom Cup in Los Angeles is happening later this week and Capcom has revealed that Kenny Omega will officially co-host the festivities December 13th through December 15th. The Capcom Cup is an annual fighting game tournament centered around the videogame ‘Street Fighter V: Arcade Edition.’ Players from across the globe battle through a yearlong tournament circuit in order to claim one of the 32 qualification spots and a chance at the $250k prize pool.

Kenny Omega is a professional wrestler currently signed to ‘All Elite Wrestling’, an American professional wrestling promotion founded in 2019. The promotion was founded by Tony Khan, current co-owner of the Jacksonville Jaguars. Omega stars in the promotion’s weekly TNT show ‘All Elite Wrestling: Dynamite,’ airing every Wednesday at 8/7c. He is currently an EVP of AEW, and reigning AAA World Heavyweight Champion.

A world-renowned wrestler, Omega’s former accomplishments include:

  • 1x IWGP Heavyweight Champion

  • 1x IWGP Intercontinental Champion

  • 1x IWGP United States Champion (inaugural)

  • Sports Illustrated’s Wrestler of the Year (2017)

  • PWI 500’s Wrestler of the Year (2018)

  • 3x NIkkan Sports Match of the Year Winner (2016-2018)

  • 2x Pro Wrestling Illustrated Match of the Year Winner (2017-2018)

  • 3x Tokyo Sports Best Bout Award Winner (2010, 2017-2018)

  • During his hosting duties, fans will see Omega conduct behind the scenes interviews with influencers and top players, provide live analysis, and act as master of ceremonies for the top 32 and Grand Finals.

A lifelong Street Fighter fan, and gamer, Omega has often blended the bridge between professional wrestling and gaming. Hosting the Capcom Cup is the next step in that process.

“Whether it be the World Series, Super Bowl, or Capcom Cup, there’s nothing more captivating than watching the greatest athletes in your sport of choice, do what they do best. No matter where I am on the globe, I never miss the Capcom Cup, and this year I get to see it from the best seat in the house. Best of luck to everyone competing,” said Kenny Omega.
