To help celebrate the 12th anniversary of Alan Wake,Remedy has just released an update on the Alan Wake franchise. A new version of Alan Wake was revealed, in addition to an Alan Wake television show that is currently in development. Unfortunately it wasn’t all good news as Remedy revealed that there will not be a big Alan Wake 2 trailer this summer. The hope was that we would see something at one of the many gaming shows that will be taking place over the next few months but it appears that won’t be the case.
Alan Wake Remastered was released last year for Xbox, PlayStation, and PC platforms. Announced today Alan Wake will also be making his debut on the Nintendo Switch later this year. Remedy has said that the game will run natively on the Switch and will provide an update on this specific version over the next few months. Alan Wake running natively on the Switch is great news since there has been a decent amount of games arriving on the Switch lately that was dependent on the cloud, which means you can’t always play the game unless you have a reliable internet connect. With Alan Wake Remastered that won’t be an issue, which is great to see.
Alan Wake 2 was a big surprise announcement last year during the Game Awards. A lot of fans have been waiting 12 years to get a sequel and it was a really big moment when we finally received official confirmation that Alan Wake 2 was indeed in development. According to Remedy the development on Alan Wake 2 is going well but they don’t know when they will be able to showcase more of the game.
“Everything with Alan Wake 2 development is going really well,” said Creative Director Sam Lake. “To create a proper, polished demo or a trailer takes a lot of effort, and it’s several months of work that could take away from development”.
The other announcement during the anniversary update was in regards to an Alan Wake television show. Remedy is partnering with the AMC Network to make this a reality, however, it sounds like it won’t be happening any time soon.
