News: During the 25th anniversary celebration for Final Fantasy VII, fans were given an update on the Final Fantasy VII Remake saga and Crisis Core.

The Final Fantasy VII 25th Anniversary Celebration just wrapped up and even though it was short, it had a good amount of information for fans. First, we’ll get the disappointing news out of the way. Final Fantasy VII Remake will be available on Steam beginning June 17th and it will be Steam Deck verified for those who have one, but there was no mention of an Xbox version. This doesn’t make a whole lot of sense based on something else in the Final Fantasy VII universe that will be appearing on Xbox.

Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII has been trapped on the PlayStation Portable (PSP) for a very long time. Fans kept asking Square Enix to put it on other platforms for years but it seemed like they weren’t interested in doing so. Well, finally, the day has arrived. During the Anniversary Celebration Square Enix revealed that Final Fantasy VII: Crisis Core Reunion will arrive later this year. If that wasn’t a big enough surprise, it appears that Crisis Core Reunion will be on pretty much every platform. It was announced for Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, and PC via Steam. The most confusing part of the show to me is that Crisis Core will be on Xbox, however, Final Fantasy VII Remake is still absent on the platform. Whether it ultimately shows up on Microsoft's system is anyone’s guess but right now it isn’t looking good. Final Fantasy VII: Crisis Core Reunion is slated to be released sometime in Holiday 2022.

After that surprise announcement Square Enix showed off some more footage for Final Fantasy VII Rebirth. This is the second title in the Final Fantasy VII Remake saga. The first one was called Final Fantasy VII Remake, the second one will be called Final Fantasy VII Rebirth and, well, we don’t know what the third one will be called yet. Square Enix confirmed this will be a trilogy so it is anyone’s guess as to what the subtitle will be for the third entry in the series.

The fascinating thing about what they showed for FInal Fantasy VII Rebirth is how they are playing with fact or fiction. There is a pivotal moment that happens to Aerith in the original Final Fantasy VII and one of the big questions fans have had is whether or not Aeriith will have the same fate in the Remake series. They had fun teasing what was real and perhaps what has changed so we’ll have to wait a while longer to figure out the answer to that question. Final Fantasy VII Rebirth is slated to be released Holiday 2023 for the PlayStation 5.

Those were the really big items for console and PC gamers. If you have been enjoying the Final Fantasy VII games on mobile, they showed off a bit of Season 3 for Final Fantasy VII: The First Soldier and then teased everyone with some new footage and story for Final Fantasy VII: Ever Crisis. Final Fantasy VII: The First Soldier is currently available on iOS and Android with Final Fantasy VII: Ever Crisis appearing there as well once it is released.

What do you think of the FInal Fantasy VII 25th Anniversary Celebration? What was the best moment for you? In case you missed it (or want to watch it again) be sure to check it out here and then tell us what you think.
