News: The Xbox 360 generation ended almost a decade ago which means that Microsoft will no longer be offering those games as part of their monthly offering.
Every month Xbox Live Gold members get a number of free games as a perk for their paid membership. The games members would receive consisted mainly of Xbox 360 and Xbox One games, with the occasional original Xbox game thrown in. The Xbox 360 generation ended almost 10 years ago in 2013 and as such Microsoft has revealed that members will longer be receiving Xbox 360 games as part of their membership beginning October 2022.
Microsoft has said that they have “reached the limit” of their ability to bring Xbox 360 games to the catalog. I’m not exactly sure what that means but my guess is that all of the games that they wanted to bring to the service have arrived at some point. If you are an Xbox Live Gold member you will still continue to receive Xbox One games every month, along with the savings that members are used to receiving.
Even though you won’t be receiving any new Xbox 360 games beginning in October, this won’t affect games you have received before that time. Any Xbox 360 game you downloaded as a result of being an Xbox Live Gold member will remain yours to keep and play. Any Xbox 360 games that you redeem via Games With Gold before October 2022 are also yours to keep, regardless of whether or not you continue your subscription.
If you have been an Xbox Live Gold member for a while, you probably have a pretty big library of games just from that alone. Hopefully, you have remembered to keep redeeming the free titles every month, even if you don’t have any immediate plans to play them.
