News: A new pre-historic colony sim is now available on Steam where you need to build up your civilization at the dawn of man.

”Sapiens”

From solo developer Majic Jungle, prehistoric colony sim Sapiens is now available on Steam. For the first time, players can experience the full game and all it has to offer. Long-awaited and already beloved by many, Sapiens recently won “The Perfect Recipe” award at the New Zealand Game Festival’s Pav Awards. You can pick up the game now for $24.99 with a limited time 10% launch discount.

Ever wonder what life was like at the dawn of man? In Sapiens, players can experience a world unlike their own and build entire civilizations from the ground up. Starting with a small tribe of 5-10 settlers, gather materials and begin crafting, planting, and harvesting materials to turn an untamed land into a comforting home. Sapiens themselves are the heart of the game, and every action and direction goes through them. Assign sapiens to specific tasks and roles, guiding them in creating a flourishing community.

Undertake a wide range of activities like building, crafting, cooking, pottery making, resource collecting, and more. The world of Sapiens is 100% customizable, down to every last branch and rock. Terrain can also be shaped by digging and mining.

In Sapiens, exploration and technological advancement are key to growth. Send sapiens to travel long distances to discover new areas and resources that can be used to unlock upgrades. Back at camp, players must take care of the sapiens by managing their moods and maintaining shelter and food supply. In time, tribes can grow to as large as 100 members.

Some of the features in the game include:

  • Lead and foster a group of resourceful tribespeople as they navigate a primitive, sparsely populated land;

  • Find new resources and send sapiens to investigate, leading to new breakthroughs which unlock new items to build and craft;

  • Instruct individual sapiens to focus on specific tasks, and watch as they learn new skills, making them more valuable to the tribe;

  • Sapiens features gridless, completely free-form building. Every item, from rocks to branches and trees, can be removed or placed. Terrain can also be dug, mined, or filled for further customization;

  • Build shelters, both to keep sapiens happy, and to preserve food and resources. Every wall, roof, seat, or fireplace can be placed individually. Every tree, log, plank, or rock can be removed or placed, and the terrain can be dug, mined, or filled to shape the world to the player’s liking;

  • Send sapiens over long distances and establish camps to gather far away resources or conduct hunting missions. Take down a mammoth to feed and clothe the tribe for months, but know that some sapiens may be lost in the effort;

  • Extensive mod support from Steam Workshop that lets players create their own worlds to explore.

  • Sapiens is now available on Steam. Check out the trailer below and tell us what you think. Will you be picking it up?
