First Impressions: Tetris goes around the world all while in the palm of your hand.

You can't keep a good game down. Tetris is definitely one of the most popular series of all time. Ever since the Russian mathematician, Alexey Pajitnov, decided it would be fun to drop shapes to form lines, Tetris has graced nearly every console in existence. So don't think for a second that Tetris won't find its way back to it's portable roots, the Game Boy; only now it's a little more, let's say, advanced.

The developers have kept relatively quiet but enough is known to ensure it will continue the pattern of success. The worlds theme basically means different settings to entertain you as the blocks slowly sink to the bottom. In total, you'll be able to find seven different worlds, each with its own unique environment and diverse Tetris rules to play with.

There will also be seven interesting modes to be enjoyed each containing Tetris's simple, but addictive gameplay. The possibility of Bombtris or Gadget Tetris can only raise a few eyebrows. You can be assured that there will be more than your classic marathon, which is usually enough reason to buy Tetris.

A great addition to any title and even greater for Tetris is the multiplayer option. Four player garbage dumping insanity is all that needs to be said. Forget the ice cream cake and piёata, four way Tetris is where the party is at. Cross your fingers for that one cartridge capability, so everyone won't need to have a copy on hand to play some multiplayer mayhem.

With some impressive graphics shown early on, I suspect we'll receive a not only visually perfect version of Tetris, but also a title that exceeds in every other department as well. If Tetris World is anything like its N64 counterpart then expect some sweet tunes to back up the great gameplay. By the time it hits the shelves it should be a title pleasing to the eye as well as the ear.

Final Thoughts
It seems that yet another platform will effectively host the classic in the near future. In time we'll find out what some of those other modes will be and how the multiplayer options will pan out. Until then keep your hands rested for the most addictive puzzler of all time, and we'll be back with more info on Tetris Worlds soon.
