Review: Acclaim cast dreams with some stylin' hover-boarding tricksters

After buying this game I asked myself "Why". I don't like skateboarding, or snowboarding, why would I like Trickstyle, what the hell was I smoking when I pre-ordered it? Well after popping in my copy of Trickstyle September 9th, I realized why, because it's GOOD. Simple premises, race, beat challenges, get tricks and new boards simple enough right? But that's where the simplicity stops. Graphically speaking, Trickstyle (TS) is AWeSOME, the game moves at a constant 30 FPS, and is as detailed as any other Dreamcast game to date. The level design is amazing, taking urban settings such as New York, to a little park out side London.

First off, the visuals Trickstyle (TS) are just awesome, the game moves at a constant 30 FPS, and is as detailed as any other Dreamcast game to date. The level design is amazing, taking urban settings such as New York, to a little park out side London.

Trickstyle's controls are tight and simple; its easy one button does a jump (ollie) another street louge, 360, and a hammerdrill. Now these may sound kind of stupid trick wise, but later you learn to pull off a trick it's all about button pressing. The game has simple control, even for those who aren't interested in tricks, that's how good this game is.

The audio can get a little annoying, especially the CONSTANT techno beats, and there seams to be only 3 that you hear OVER and OVER, AGAIN and AGAIN. I was hoping that there would be plenty of Wipeout style tracks, but alas I was wrong. Other than that, the neat little futuristic hum your board makes while zipping through London.

I was very satisfied with Trickstyle. It made me and made me a УbelieverФ in games that don't exactly look that interesting, yet there is always more in Trickstyle, you always want more. My advice is making this one of your first buys.

One of THPS2's highest points is in replay. You will always find yourself coming back for more, and trying to beat the challenge, to get a new trick. The only real complaint is the inconsistency of the challenges, and how they so greatly differ on a scale of difficulty; this may be frustrating for the normal gamer.

Bottom Line
My advice is, if you are looking for a great racer for Dreamcast, consider Trickstyle one of your this one of your picks.
