News: The Scooby-Doo! global gaming takeover conspiracy continues...
Last month, I opined that there seems to be a grand conspiracy by THQ to release as many Scooby-Doo! games as possible. THQ's most recent announcement has done nothing to change this opinion, as yet another Scooby-Doo! title is in development for the GameBoy Advance.
However, Scooby-Doo! Two: Monsters Unleashed will be a little different -- the previous Scooby-Doo! games have been based on the classic cartoon series, but this one will be an adaptation of the upcoming sequel to last year's Scooby-Doo! movie, scheduled for theatrical release next March. The game is scheduled for release at the same time.
"We are now delivering product for Scooby-Doo! movie-based games, in addition to the classic Scooby-Doo! games we regularly deliver," said Germaine Gioia, vice president of licensing for THQ. "The Scooby-Doo! Two: Monsters Unleashed products demonstrate a real collaboration between THQ and Warner Bros. Consumer Products, and a commitment to deliver compelling product surrounding theatrical releases as well as the classic television series."
In the game, players will take on the roles of Scooby-Doo, Shaggy and Daphne five levels of fake-ghost-hunting action, ending with a climactic battle with someone in a ghost costume (what, you expected differently?). It hasn't been revealed whether stars of the movie, such as Freddie Prinze Jr. and Sarah Michelle Gellar, will contribute their likenesses to the game.
