News: Women, in bikinis, fighting. But Konami says it's more than just eye candy.
Wrestling may be lacking competition lately, what with Vince McMahon andаhis WWE being the only major wrestling league in America. But Konami wants toаtake a shot at the "soap opera for men" by makingаa wrestling game where the only participants are women. Announced on friday, Konami has revealed more details today about WWX: Rumble Rose.
Co-developed by Konami Tokyo and wrestling gurus Yuke's, WWX: Rumble Rose features "girl-on-girl wrestling action" and according to Konami is the first ever all female wrestling game. The only two parpicipants Konami has confirmed at this point are Dixie Clemets, a country-western cowgirl,аand Reiko Hinomoto, a real Japanese wrestler.
"WWX is a powerhouse combination with some of the best wresting action found on any platform, sexy female models, audacious poses and bold moves - all delivered with state-of-the-art graphics for a visually stunning game," said Akari Uchida, producer, Konami Computer Entertainment Tokyo.
An interesting feature thatаKoanmi plans to implement in the game is dynamic wrestler personalities that change if a fighter fights fair or dirty. These changes include changes in your costume, attitude, and wrestling style. Konami has also said that by becoming a popular wrestler you will expand gameplay andаearn additional skills, moves, and more revealing and flamboyant costumes. If done right this could be an amazing gameplay feature.
"When Konami approached us with the concept, we could hardly wait to get started," said Yuke Taniguchi, president of Yuke's Entertainment. "We are excited to develop a new style of wrestling game - one that provides a high quality wrestling experience, but also introduces humor and a whole lot more sex appeal."
You'll be able to judge for yourself whether they've succeeded or not when WWX: Rumble Rose is released in November 2004 and we'll get a playable look at WWX at E3.
