NEws: It's real that a real sequel to Unreal is really on it's way for the Xbox, really.
Epic Games announced today that they've begun work on Unreal Championship 2: The Liandri Conflict for the Xbox. The Microsoft published game is currently on schedule for a Fall 2004 release.
Unreal Championship 2 will include several different modes to allow players to get their frag on any way they want. "In the single player campaign, players will fight their way through new cities and arenas as they take on the role of Anubis in his attempt to retake his people's Nakhti Rite of Ascension Tournament." The game will also feature a single player tournament that will allow players to fight through a ladder tournament against bots.
Unreal Championship 2 will also feature a third person mode, a first for the series:
Unreal Championship 2: The Liandri Conflict will revolutionize the shooter genre with its high intensity melee combat system, optional third-person perspective and unique character combos. No longer solely bound to the first-person perspective, players can switch to third-person mode for lethal melee attacks and defensive combos; including the devastating reflect move, which sends an incoming attack back to the sender with interest.
Naturally, the game will be optimized for Xbox Live and LAN Play, with deathmatches and tournaments of up to eight players.
We'll have more on this shooter sequel as it's revealed.
