News: The Classic NES Series is trickling into stores and Nintendo has released a second series in Japan, see which games made the cut.

The first wave of Nintendo's Classic NES Series for the Game Boy Advance is offically set for store shelves on June 7. The good news is that retailers have already started to make these titles available for sale. So if you want to take your chances, you might get lucky at a store today.

The Classic NES Series are re-releases of classic NES games in perfectly emulated Game Boy Advance form. They retail for $19.99 and a classic NES controller styled GBA SP will also be available for $99.99. The first wave of titles includes:

  • Bomberman
  • Donkey Kong
  • Excitebike
  • Ice Climber
  • The Legend of Zelda
  • Pac-Manа
  • Super Mario Bros.
  • Xevious

UPDATE (6/6/04): If you plan on purchasing any of the NES Classic titles or the NES Controller edition of the GBA SP then you should know that Circuit City has the systems on sale for $89.99 this week. All Classic NES games are also on sale, for $14.99, and they come with a free "Retro Nintendo" t-shirt. I know where I'll be.

Nintendo of Japan also released a second wave of Classic NES games in Japan on May 21. That set doesn't have a North American release date yet, but speculation says if they are making the trip across the ocean, it will be around Christmas time. The second wave will include:

  • Adventure Island
  • Balloon Fight
  • Clu Clu Land
  • Dig Dug
  • Dr. Mario
  • Ghosts 'n Goblins
  • Mario Brothers
  • Mystical Ninja Goemon
  • Stinger
  • Wrecking Crew

We'll keep you posted if and when Nintendo announces a North American date for the second series.
