News: Namco announces Pac-Man World 3 for the Pac's 25th birthday.
Pac-Man is turning the ripe old age of 25 this year and to celebrate Namco has announced Pac-Man World 3 for the PS2, GameCube, Xbox and PSP. All four versions are currently on schedule to be released this fall.
This third go-around in Pac-Man World involves the Ghosts homeworld, the Spectral Realm, collapsing onto the real world. Naturally it is up to Pac-Man to platform his way to the end and save the world!
Of course Pac-Man World 3 will feature the Pac-basics like Power Pellets, dots and fruit, but according to Namco, the Pac will have new moves like the "Pactrometer, power-up smoothies and several new special moves". And in a Pac-Man first, players will get to play as their favorite ghosts: Pinky and Clyde.
"Pac-Man helped launch video games into the mainstream, and as he turns 25 this year, we are happy to see that he continues to have an enduring appeal," said Garry Cole, Executive Vice President of Namco Hometek Inc. "We're delighted that today's generation is still able to experience the magic of Pac-Man with Pac-Man World 3."
"Like all of us, Pac-Man has evolved over the years, changing with the times," said Toru Iwatani, creator of Pac-Man. "People love Pac-Man because he's simple and cute and most important FUN."
