Accessories: No glove no love now extends to your video game controllers too as Kyle reviews the GlovesPlay Controller Gloves.

Picture this:
It's Saturday night and you've been playing Halo 2 with Sk8RM0nk3y, JayZisCOOL, and PandaGrrl for six hours straight when your buddies start coming over to hang out, order some pizzas and pop back a few cold ones. Of course, Jef starts poking fun at you for being sniped three times by FlightlessBird and, when you manage to run yourself over with a Warthog, Brandon erupts into laughter, calling you a, "Pig [blank]er." But you, you're cool as ice. You take their ribbings with a good natured, "So's your mom," and shake it off. Then it happens; the six hours of gameplaying takes it's toll on you. Your sweaty little palms lose their grip on the controller and, in a comedy of errors, the controller flies across the room, the breakaway cable performing it's function, and out the open window. You friend are all staring, jaws agape, as you run screaming like a little girl over to the window. You look down at your Controller-S, seeing that it is laying in the parking lot. It looks to be a little scratched up but, apparently, no worse for the wear. That is, until the pizza guy pulls up in his beat-up little blue Mazda pick-up and runs over your precious controller.

You think that this story is funny? Well, it isn't. Not even remotely so. Tragedies like this (okay, not exactly like this) happen every day and they could all be avoided with a simple new product, controller gloves from GlovesPlay.

Made from a faux-suede material, GlovesPlay controller gloves are designed specifically to fit Sony's Dual Shock and Microsoft's Controller-S video game controllers. This is one of those products that, when you see it, you go, УWhy didn't I think of that?Ф It is amazing just how simple they are as all you do is slip the glove over your controller, secure it in place with an elastic strap and play, play, play. The GlovesPlay gloves are extremely comfortable, giving you a nice cushioned layer between the palm of your hand and the handle of your controller. The Xbox version would be even better if the glove reached up around the sides of the controller a little bit more, though.

While, GlovesPlay's line of controller gloves is one of those products that seem excessive or unnecessary at first glance, after just 15 minutes with them wrapped around your controller you will see their benefit. While they are comfortable and do improve your grip on the controller, the biggest benefit of the GlovesPlay controller gloves is that they keep your sweaty palms off of the controller itself, drastically cutting down on the build-up of sweat-based grime. Go ahead and give this a try: Go play NBA Street V3 for four hours and take a look at your controller. It's a slimy mess, isn't it? With GlovesPlay gloves on your controller you would find that your glove still feels like it did when you started playing. Not only do the gloves allow you to excel during long gaming sessions, they help you keep your controller clean. I tell you, it is a lot more effective to drop the gloves into the washing machine than it is to do the same to the controller itself. Too bad they don't keep the grime off of the buttons, too.

Bottom Line
Both affordable and indispensable for anyone that plays a lot of videogames, you should be heading over to Wal*Mart's website to order yourself a pair of GlovesPlay controller gloves for your PS2 Dual Shock or Xbox Controller-S right now. I use mine everyday and look forward to them releasing the GameCube model. These are, perhaps, the best thing to happen to videogame controllers since the introduction of the analog stick.
